Paige Spiranac and Joey Chesnut

Joey Chesnut has dominated the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest, held annually on July 4th, with a record 16 victories. His latest win saw him devour 62 hot dogs and buns in just 10 minutes. Chesnut set the record of 76 hot dogs eaten in the 2021 event.

Recently, Chesnut signed an endorsement deal with Impossible Foods, which produces plant-based hot dogs. According to the deal, Chesnut is required to consume these plant-based hot dogs exclusively in future contests.

As a result, Major League Eating has barred Chesnut from competing since he must eat the same real meat hot dogs as everyone else. Major League Eating released the following statement on Chesnut's ban: "We are devastated to learn that Joey Chesnut has chosen to represent a rival brand that sells plant-based hot dogs rather than competing in the 2024 Nathan's Famous Fourth of July Hot Dog Contest."

Joey Chesnut released the following statement on X: "I was gutted to learn from the media that after 19 years I'm banned from the Nathan's July 4th Hot Dog Eating Contest. I love competing in that event, I love celebrating America with my fans all over this great country on the 4th and I have been training to defend my title."

Paige Spiranac's Offer

In response to this situation, Paige Spiranac took to social media to offer her services as a fill-in for the hot dog-eating champion.

In one of her posts, Paige shared a video where she attempted the contest herself, managing to eat only 6.5 hot dogs. She humorously acknowledged that this might not be enough to compete at Chesnut's level.

Paige continued her hot dog-themed social media posts, sharing another video on YouTube.

Wrap-Up

Paige Spiranac’s playful offer to step in for Joey Chesnut adds a lighthearted twist to the controversy surrounding his ban from the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest. While her attempt at the contest may not match Chesnut’s prowess, it certainly brought some fun to the situation.

Whether Chesnut will be able to negotiate a return or if Paige will continue to entertain her followers with more hot dog challenges remains to be seen. For now, the world of competitive eating has gained a surprising and amusing new twist.
